Where light meets the liminal.
Bridging ancient wisdom & future tech through bioluminescent figures, sacred geometry, and visionary art.
Most of my work starts with a feeling — something between memory and premonition. A sense that there are structures holding reality together that we almost see, but not quite. Sacred geometry gives me the scaffolding. Bioluminescence gives me the language.
I'm interested in the moment where something organic becomes geometric, where biology becomes architecture, where the natural world reveals its hidden code.
The process is half precision, half surrender. I build the geometric framework deliberately — every line measured, every ratio intentional. Then I let the painting tell me where the light goes.
Select a collection to explore.
Humanoid form radiating from within — painted as though the body itself is a source of light.
Exploring what it means to be luminous — not reflecting external light, but generating it from some deeper place.
Light that lives beneath the surface of things — the biological made transcendent.
The hidden architecture of nature made visible — Fibonacci spirals, Platonic solids, the mathematics underlying everything.
Mapping the mathematical patterns that underlie everything from galaxies to cell division.
Where precision meets the infinite — geometric frameworks revealing the code beneath reality.
Circular composition functioning as both visual meditation and cosmological map — built from the center outward.
Following the same expansive logic as the natural world itself — fractal, recursive, infinite.
Beings from the overlap between biology and imagination — what happens when you look closely and let it get strange.
Creatures that exist in the space between dream logic and biological reality — not fantasy, but deep observation.
Where biology becomes something else entirely — organisms at the edge of perception.
A curated selection of recent pieces exploring bioluminescence, sacred geometry,
and the luminous spaces between worlds.
A pivotal piece exploring the luminous threshold between the human and the divine. This work found its home with a Cirque du Soleil performer — art meeting art in motion.
Private CollectionThe hidden framework revealed — geometric precision rendered in light and shadow, mapping the mathematics of natural systems.
AvailableA meditation on infinite expansion — built from the center outward, each layer a universe unto itself.
AvailableConsciousness rendered visible — a figure at the moment of awakening, where the inner light first breaks the surface.
AvailableHunter Culberson is a visual artist based in Charleston, South Carolina whose work explores the luminous boundary between the organic and the otherworldly. Drawing from bioluminescent phenomena, sacred geometry, and the archetypal imagery found in deep meditative states, his paintings give form to the invisible structures underlying reality.
Working across mixed media, digital, and traditional mediums, Hunter's process blends meticulous geometric construction with intuitive, trance-like mark-making. The result is work that feels simultaneously precise and alive — as though the paintings are emitting their own light.
His subjects range from radiant humanoid figures that seem to pulse with inner bioluminescence, to intricate mandalas that map the mathematics of natural systems, to psychedelic creatures that exist in the space between dream logic and biological reality.
Hunter shares his ongoing process and studio practice with a growing community on Instagram @etherealhunt, where he documents the intersection of ancient wisdom and emerging creative technologies.
